About Me

Richard.png

My name is Richard Flores and I am a recent graduate from USC's Computer Science for Game Development major. Before transferring there, I taught myself the basics of game development in my free time and fell in love with the medium. I enjoy working in engineering and design disciplines; including (but not limited to) gameplay, AI, technical design, level design, and progression. I also am obviously a gamer myself, playing anything from commercial FPS's with friends to obscure emotional personal projects I can get my hands on to dissect and learn from.

As you can see from the games on my home page, I care about the environment and love to work on games that reflect that. I also try to work on emotional games with other themes; but sometimes I just like to work on silly games or action platformers that I work on when not focusing on a main title. Besides that, I also like to work on projects that will push me to try, learn, or create something new so that I can grow as a developer in engineering and design. You can see some of my older work and prototypes on my GitHub linked at the bottom.

I plan to make a page here devoted to most of them, and start a blog here too to discuss my work more in depth (like my AI system for Leechbug and my design decisions for Koa) so stay tuned.

Asides from things game related I spend my free time lately practicing photography (may make a page where I share photos), reading philosophy and history, taking care of my younger brothers, and distributing food/water to unhoused neighbors in my city/county. I also have a side job tutoring computer science and game development as I continue to look for more work in the industry.
